Apple AirPods 4 Review: Superior Sound and Features Make It a Must-Have

Apple has made a daring move by refreshing the popular AirPods 4, providing a necessary update to its entry-level wireless earbuds. These new buds not only improve the design of the famous AirPods line but also introduce active noise-canceling earbuds that utilize USB-C instead of the Lightning port, skipping the typical silicone tips.

Despite the absence of a secure seal, the noise cancellation function remains effective when tested in various environments such as trains, flights, workouts, and daily activities, proving its ability to reduce background noise effectively. The AirPods 4 will probably be favored in the future by those who don't like silicone tips for extended wear.

For individuals looking for a more budget-friendly choice, there is a version available without ANC, but it still comes with an upgraded acoustic design as well as features such as personalized spatial audio, conversation awareness, and head gestures. These features are usually seen in the more expensive Pro models but are offered at a lower cost in this version. What is the primary disadvantage? The battery of the AirPods Pro 2 surpasses that of the other version.

APPLE AIRPODS 4: DESIGN AND COMFORT

Apple is no longer selling earbuds with long stems, as the AirPods 4 have a new design. They look more like the AirPods 3 or AirPods Pro without the rubber ear tips. Each earbud is small and light, measuring 30.2 x 18.3 x 18.1 mm and weighing only 0.15 ounces.

Apple AirPods 4 review

The apple AirPods 4 felt comfortable to wear for long periods. I usually don't like silicone tips, which is why I switched to the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds for a while. However, even during a long trip, the AirPods 4 stayed in place with just a little adjustment. Most of the time, I barely noticed them in my ears.

The charging case for the AirPods 4 measures 50.1 x 46.2 x 21.2 mm and weighs 1.14 ounces (without ANC) and 1.22 ounces (with ANC). This slight difference in weight is due to the extra features like wireless charging and the Find My Speaker, which I really like.

Both the standard and Pro models have a hidden touchpad on the front for pairing. This replaces the old button on the back. If you need to pair the AirPods 4 with a non-Apple device, just double-tap the front of the case below the status light.

APPLE AIRPODS 4 REVIEW: SOUND QUALITY

The AirPods 4 offer better sound quality than the AirPods 2 and slightly better than the AirPods 3. The sound is clear and balanced, with more bass than expected for their small size. The AirPods Pro still have the best sound due to their deeper fit in the ear. The AirPods 4 also allows for better spatial audio on Apple Music, making the music feel like it's all around you. For the best music experience, use Fixed Spatial mode instead of Head Tracked mode.

Apple AirPods 4 review

Apple claims the AirPods 4 have a new design for better sound quality, but the biggest improvement for people coming from AirPods 3 is the better fit, which reduces sound leakage. The AirPods 1 and 2 fit well in most ears, with longer stems and longer stems that help them stay secure. The AirPods 3 design was different, and some people found it wouldn't stay in their ears. The AirPods 4 are a mix between the AirPods 2 and 3, with shorter stems and a slimmer earbud part.

The AirPods 4 is almost as comfortable as the original AirPods, and if you didn't like the fit of the AirPods 3, give them a try. They stay in place without any worry, even during activities like walking, running, and head-banging.

APPLE AIRPODS 4 REVIEW: BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING

Apple has made sure that the improved functionality of the AirPods 4 doesn't negatively impact battery life. These AirPods can now play music continuously for up to 30 hours, thanks to the redesigned charging case. This makes them ideal for lengthy travels, everyday commutes, or even hectic workdays when you require all-day listening.

Notable advancements have been made to the casing itself. With a design that fits neatly into your pocket or purse for increased convenience, this is the lightest and most portable version yet. Additionally, a built-in speaker has been included, which may notify users of incoming calls and help find the missing AirPods.

Additionally, charging is now more convenient. The AirPods 4 case now contains a USB-C connector for cable charging, in addition to allowing wireless charging. Users now have even more options on how to keep their AirPods charged, thanks to this dual option.

CONCLUTIONS

In summary, with a more comfortable design, better sound quality, and cutting-edge capabilities like active noise cancellation and tailored spatial audio, the Apple AirPods 4 provide a significant improvement over earlier models. The AirPods 4 provide something for everyone, whether you're searching for a pair with all the premium features or something more affordable. They are an excellent alternative for usage when traveling because of their stylish, light design, longer battery life, and practical charging choices. Now is the ideal moment to replace your AirPods if you're ready for a change from your outdated models.
